Description:
The Food Handler is responsible for preparing, handling, and serving food and/or food ingredients while strictly adhering to all company, local, state, and federal food safety regulations, with a primary focus on Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) . This role ensures the highest standards of sanitation, hygiene, and quality are maintained in all food processing and service areas.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Responsibilities Focused on GMP)

Sanitation and Hygiene:

Maintain impeccable personal hygiene in compliance with GMP, including wearing appropriate protective clothing (hairnets, gloves, uniform), maintaining clean hands, and avoiding jewelry.

Perform routine and deep cleaning/sanitizing of all food-contact surfaces, utensils, and equipment according to established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Ensure work areas are free of litter, debris, and potential attractants for pests.

Food Handling and Storage:

Practice strict cross-contamination prevention by using separate and sanitized tools/surfaces for raw and ready-to-eat foods.

Monitor, record, and maintain food storage and cooking temperatures as required by HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) and food safety plans.

Implement and follow proper stock rotation (FIFO - First In, First Out) and labeling procedures for all raw materials, work-in-process, and finished products, including accurate date and allergen information.

Inspect incoming raw materials for quality, temperature, and any signs of damage or contamination upon delivery.

Process Adherence and Quality:

Follow established recipes, formulas, and production schedules precisely.

Operate and maintain production or kitchen equipment safely and according to manufacturer specifications.

Conduct visual inspections and quality checks on products during production to ensure they meet consistency and quality specifications.

Immediately report any deviations from procedures, non-conformities, or suspicions of contamination to a supervisor.

Safety and Compliance:

Actively participate in and apply all food safety training, including GMP and HACCP principles.

Ensure all cleaning chemicals and hazardous materials are stored correctly and separate from food products to prevent chemical contamination.

Maintain accurate and legible records or logs related to cleaning, temperature monitoring, and product checks, as required by the FSQA (Food Safety and Quality Assurance) system.

Required Qualifications and Skills

High School Diploma or GED (or equivalent experience).

Current Food Handler's card or equivalent certification.

Demonstrated knowledge of and adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and basic food safety principles.

Ability to follow verbal and written instructions, including SOPs and recipes.

Strong attention to detail and commitment to product quality and hygiene.

Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Physical ability to stand for long periods, lift moderate weight (e.g., up to 40 lbs), and work in a variety of temperatures (e.g., refrigerated areas).
