Job Position: Metal Packer

Location: OLNEY, TX 76374

Pay Rate: $13.00/hr

Shift:6am-6pm

Description: Key Responsibilities and Duties
Your primary responsibilities as a Metal Fabrication Operator often include the following tasks:

Reading and Interpretation: Accurately read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work orders to understand job specifications, dimensions, tolerances, and the sequence of fabrication steps.

Machine Operation: Set up, adjust, program (for CNC machines), and operate fabrication equipment such as:

Saws and Shears for cutting metal to size.

Press Brakes and Rollers for bending and shaping metal.

* **Punch Presses** or **Laser Cutters** for creating holes and complex shapes.
* **Welders** (MIG, TIG, or Stick) to join metal components.
Measurement and Quality Control: Use precision measuring tools (like calipers, micrometers, and tape measures) to check and inspect components against the required specifications and tolerances.

Material Handling: Load and unload raw materials and finished parts onto/off machines, sometimes using forklifts or overhead cranes.

Finishing: Perform finishing tasks, which may include grinding, deburring, and polishing metal surfaces.

Maintenance and Safety: Perform routine maintenance, cleaning, and troubleshooting on machinery. Strictly adhere to all safety protocols, including wearing proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Qualifications and Skills
While specific requirements vary by employer, successful Metal Fabrication Operators generally possess:

Education: High school diploma or GED is typically required; technical training or certification in welding or metal fabrication is a strong plus.

Experience: Previous experience operating metalworking machinery in a manufacturing or fabrication setting.

Technical Skills: Proficiency in reading blueprints, strong shop math skills (including fractions and decimals), and a solid understanding of metal types and their properties.

Physical Stamina: The ability to stand for long periods, lift materials (often up to 50 lbs.), and handle the physical demands of a factory environment, which can be noisy and dusty.

Work Ethic: Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and a commitment to quality and safety, especially when working long hours for overtime.
