Job Position: Aluminum Tube

Location: Grand Prairie, TX 75050

Pay Rate: $18.50/hr

Shift: 1st Shift 4AM - 2:30PM

Description:

We are looking for a skilled Aluminum Tube Bender to join our precision fabrication team. This role is critical in producing high-quality tubular components for automobile applications. The ideal candidate has a deep understanding of aluminum’s unique material properties and possesses the technical expertise to operate mandrel bending equipment with extreme accuracy.

Core Responsibilities

  • Machine Setup: Configure manual or CNC tube bending machines by selecting and installing the correct die sets, mandrels, pressure blocks, and wiper dies.

  • Production Operations: Execute precise bends on aluminum tubing (typically 6061, 3003, or 5052 alloys) while maintaining structural integrity and preventing "ovality"or collapsing.

  • Blueprint Interpretation: Read and interpret technical drawings, 3D models, and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) specifications to ensure parts meet exact design requirements.

  • Quality Control: Use calipers, protractors, and "go/no-go"fixtures to verify bend angles and lengths.

  • Material Prep & Finishing: Perform secondary tasks such as cutting, deburring, flaring, and swaging tube ends to prepare them for final assembly or welding.

  • Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine cleaning and lubrication of bending tooling; report any mechanical issues to the maintenance team.

Qualifications & Technical Skills

  • Experience: Minimum of 2–3 years in metal fabrication, specifically focused on tube bending.

  • Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of bend radii, wall thickness ratios, and the use of internal mandrels.

  • Math Skills: Proficiency in shop math, including the ability to calculate developed lengths and bend deductions.

  • Material Expertise: Familiarity with various aluminum tempers (e.g., T4 vs. T6) and how they behave during cold forming.

Physical Requirements & Environment

  • Precision Handling: High level of manual dexterity to handle and positioned long lengths of thin-walled tubing.

  • Stamina: Ability to stand for the duration of an 8–10 hour shift and lift up to 40 lbs regularly.

  • Environment: Comfortable working in a professional shop environment; adherence to all PPE standards is mandatory.
