Sit-Down Clamp Forklift Operator

Location: Grand Prairie, TX 75050

Pay Rate: $18.00/hr

Shift: 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM (Monday through Friday, with overtime as needed)

Job Description

We are looking for an experienced and safety-minded Sit-Down Clamp Forklift Operator to join our warehouse and logistics team. In this role, you will be responsible for utilizing specialized clamp attachments to safely load, unload, stack, and stage large, heavy, or non-palletized goods. The ideal candidate will have a strong track record of operating clamp machinery efficiently while maintaining strict inventory accuracy and workplace safety standards.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Equipment Operation: Safely and proficiently operates a sit-down forklift equipped with a hydraulic clamp attachment to transport large loads (such as appliances, paper rolls, or baled goods).

  • Loading & Unloading: Efficiently unloads incoming freight from containers or flatbeds and loads outgoing trailers according to carrier configurations and weight distribution guidelines.

  • Staging & Storage: Carefully stacks and places fragile or heavy clamped materials into high-bay racks or designated floor-storage zones without causing product damage.

  • Inventory Verification: Accurately reads work orders, shipping manifests, and pick tickets to verify item descriptions, quantities, and SKU numbers before moving stock.

  • Safety Inspections: Conducts daily pre-shift maintenance and safety inspections on the forklift and hydraulic clamp attachments, reporting any mechanical issues immediately to the supervisor.

  • Warehouse Upkeep: Performs daily housekeeping and organization to keep aisles clear of debris, maintaining a clean and accident-free workspace.

Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum of 1–2 years of proven professional experience operating a sit-down forklift with a clamp attachment is required.

  • Skills: * Strong spatial awareness, depth perception, and a strict commitment to OSHA safety compliance.

    • Demonstrated ability to adjust clamp pressure properly to prevent crushing or dropping sensitive loads.

    • Ability to read, understand, and interpret warehouse paperwork, shipping labels, and pick tickets.

    • Proven reliability, punctuality, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

  • Physical Requirements: Must be able to sit for extended periods, adapt to changing warehouse temperatures, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.

  • Availability: Must be dependable and able to work the full designated shift hours, including required overtime as production demands change.

  • Screening: Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check, drug screen, and E-Verify screening.
