Description: Job Summary
The Cherry Picker Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of a motorized aerial lift (often called an "order picker"or "stock picker") to retrieve and place materials from high-level storage racks within a warehouse or distribution center. This role is critical for maintaining inventory accuracy and ensuring timely order fulfillment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Safely and efficiently operate a cherry picker forklift to transport materials and personnel to various heights as required by operational needs.
Retrieve products from high storage racks according to customer orders or restocking requirements, accurately reading pick lists and verifying product numbers.
Load and unload trucks, docks, and storage areas using the cherry picker or other equipment like electric pallet jacks (EPJ)
Prepare and stage orders for shipment, which may include securely shrink-wrapping goods.
Conduct routine pre-operation inspections of the equipment to ensure proper functionality and safety compliance, reporting any mechanical issues.
Maintain accurate inventory counts by utilizing radio frequency (RF) scanning equipment and reporting discrepancies.
Adhere strictly to all safety protocols and regulations, including wearing a safety harness and other required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Collaborate with warehouse staff, including inventory specialists and shipping/receiving coordinators, to optimize workflow and meet daily operational goals.
Assist in maintaining a clean and organized work area.
Qualifications and Requirements
Valid certification to operate a Cherry Picker (Order Picker) or similar powered industrial truck is essential.
Proven experience operating a Cherry Picker/Order Picker. Experience with other equipment, such as stand-up reach or sit-down forklifts, is a plus.
Demonstrated commitment to safety consciousness and following strict safety procedures at all times.
Excellent hand-eye coordination, attention to detail, and ability to work comfortably at heights.
Physical stamina and ability to stand and operate the lift for extended periods.
Working knowledge of warehouse operations, including inventory management and shipping/receiving processes.
