In addition to conducting precision inspection rounds, the Line Lead acts as a coach and mentor, delivering cellular sub-assembly training to production operators.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Workstation & OWI Auditing: Systematically audit Operator Work Instructions (OWIs) and assembly cells to discover opportunities for improving safety, quality output, and equipment dependability.

  • Component Testing & Inspection: Perform comprehensive visual and dimensional checking to confirm parts adhere to exact engineering print sheets.

  • Performance Testing: Execute complex functional and material qualification checks on products, including Insertion Force, Component Balance, Total Indicator Reading (TIR), and Air Movement evaluations.

  • First-Piece Approvals: Act as the gatekeeper for production quality by issuing first-piece structural approvals and carrying out periodic line inspection rounds.

  • Defect & Inventory Isolation: Assist with non-conforming items through the Material Review Board (MRB) and Return Goods Authorization (RGA) tracking systems.

  • Receiving Inspection: Validate that all incoming vendor materials and purchased manufacturing inputs conform to company quality metrics before being stored or sent to active cells.

  • Line Leadership & Safety Coaching: Direct the daily workflow of cell associates, training operators on lean principles, assembly requirements, and 5S housekeeping workflows.

  • Data Log Execution: Input daily manufacturing indicators, tracking counts, and testing datasets using Syteline ERP and Microsoft Excel sheets.

  • Tool Operation: Set up and safely run diagnostic tests, mechanical balancing mechanisms, insertion presses, hydraulic/pneumatic tools, and common hand gauges.

Education & Experience Requirements

  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required.

  • Experience: Minimum of 2–3 years of related manufacturing experience with an explicit focus on Quality Assurance (QA) and precision assembly methodologies.

  • Molding Requirement: Proven track record with a minimum of 1 year working directly as a Molding Machine Operator to ensure foundational process literacy.

Technical Skills & Core Qualifications

  • Blueprint Literacy: Proficient in reading and accurately interpreting complex internal or external technical drawings.

  • Measurement Instrumentation: Demonstrated mastery using advanced inspection machinery, including calipers, micrometers, digital indicators, force gauges, and balancing fixtures.

  • Lean Methodologies: Prior exposure to, or completion of formal workspace training in: One-Piece Flow systems, Cellular Operations, 5S Housekeeping, and Work Order Release & Closure.

  • Communication & Admin: Strong interpersonal communication skills; foundational computer competency for working within enterprise plant database systems.
