Process Technician – Blow Mold

Job Title: Process Technician – Blow Mold
Reports To: Technical Production Supervisor
Department: Blow Mold Process
Classification: Non-Exempt (Hourly)

Job Summary

The Process Technician is responsible for supporting the Client's Blow Mold Manufacturing Department by assisting with daily operation of critical production equipment, supporting mold changeovers, and working with material and resin systems to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality production.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Support production operations by improving manufacturing processes, efficiency, and performance metrics.

• Monitor and maintain critical production equipment and auxiliary systems on a daily basis.

• Perform foam fixture startups and troubleshoot equipment during production.

• Diagnose and correct issues involving blow mold machines and peripheral equipment.

• Follow all process sheets, standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, visual aids, and safety guidelines.

• Collaborate with Production Supervisors, Operations personnel, and other departments to achieve production goals.

• Promote and maintain high standards of safety and product quality by ensuring proper machine guarding, safety devices, setup procedures, spare parts inventory, and troubleshooting practices.

• Prepare reports and collect production data as directed by management.

• Operate forklifts and overhead cranes to assist with mold changes.

• Perform machine startups, shutdowns, and process adjustments.

• Assist senior technicians with minor repairs, mold insert changes, and preventative maintenance.

• Report all accidents, hazards, near misses, and property damage promptly in accordance with Client policies.

• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.

• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Education

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

Experience

• Minimum of two (2) years of experience in plastics manufacturing, mold setup, or continuous extrusion blow molding.

• Experience with thermolators, grinders, blenders, and liquid additive systems.

• Experience operating Graham, Sterling, Milacron, or similar blow molding equipment.

• Ability to work flexible schedules, including multiple shifts and weekends.

Skills

• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.

• Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly during a 12-hour shift.

• Ability to stand, bend, stoop, climb, and work in physically demanding positions for extended periods.

• Ability to safely operate hand tools and production equipment.

Work Environment

• Manufacturing environment with varying temperatures, including hot and humid conditions during summer and colder conditions during winter.

• High-noise environment requiring the use of appropriate hearing protection and other required PPE.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bilingual (English/Spanish)

• Blow molding experience

• Material handling experience

• Basic computer and data entry skills
