Shift: 2nd Shift 6pm-6am Monday-Friday

Description: Position Summary
The Shipping Foreman is a critical leadership role responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the shipping department. You will coordinate the flow of finished aluminum products from the production floor to the customer, ensuring that every load is accurate, safely secured, and departed on schedule. This role requires a blend of "boots-on-the-ground"supervision and strategic administrative planning.

Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor a team of forklift operators, loaders, and shipping clerks. Manage shift schedules, conduct safety briefings, and ensure all team members are meeting performance targets.

Workflow Optimization: Coordinate with the Production and Sales departments to prioritize shipments based on customer deadlines and carrier availability.

Logistics Coordination: Oversee the staging and loading of flatbeds and van trailers. Ensure all documentation, including Bills of Lading (BOL), packing slips, and customs paperwork (if applicable), is precise.

Quality & Compliance: Audit outbound loads for proper packaging and securement to prevent transit damage. Enforce strict adherence to DOT regulations and OSHA safety standards within the shipping bays.

Inventory Management: Utilize the Warehouse Management System (WMS) to track finished goods, reconcile inventory discrepancies, and maintain an organized yard/warehouse.

Problem Solving: Address and resolve shipping delays, carrier issues, or equipment maintenance needs in real-time to prevent bottlenecks.

Qualifications & Skills
Experience: 3–5 years of supervisory experience in a shipping, logistics, or warehouse environment, preferably within the metals or heavy manufacturing industry.

Technical Proficiency: Strong experience with ERP software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or Microsoft Dynamics) and Microsoft Excel.

Equipment Knowledge: Expert-level knowledge of forklift operations and specialized loading techniques for oversized or heavy industrial materials.

Communication: Clear, professional verbal and written communication skills for interacting with truck drivers, plant management, and office staff.

Leadership Style: A "lead-by-example"mentality with a focus on safety, accountability, and maintaining high morale during peak production periods.

Work Environment & Physical Demands
Must be comfortable working in a high-activity industrial plant (noise, heat, and cold).

Ability to stand/walk for extended periods and move through the warehouse and loading docks frequently.

Must be available for occasional extended shifts to ensure end-of-month or end-of-quarter shipping goals are met.
