## Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced and dependable Cherry Picker Forklift Operator to join the warehouse team at a busy rug distribution center. This position requires previous cherry picker forklift operating experience, along with order-picking experience in a warehouse environment. The associate will be responsible for operating a cherry picker to retrieve rugs and materials from elevated warehouse racks, accurately selecting products based on order requirements, and preparing items for the next stage of the shipping process.
The ideal candidate must be comfortable operating equipment at heights, working in a fast-paced warehouse, handling products of various sizes and weights, and maintaining a strong focus on safety and accuracy. This role requires attention to detail, good organizational skills, and the ability to meet daily productivity goals while following all warehouse procedures.
## Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Operate a cherry picker forklift safely and efficiently to retrieve rugs and materials from designated warehouse locations.
- Pick customer orders using order sheets, picking lists, scanners, or warehouse inventory systems as required.
- Locate products within warehouse racks and verify item numbers, product descriptions, quantities, and locations.
- Retrieve rugs from elevated storage racks while following proper operating procedures.
- Transport picked products to designated staging, packing, or shipping areas.
- Ensure the correct rugs and materials are selected for each order to prevent picking errors.
- Handle rugs carefully to prevent damage during retrieval, movement, and placement.
- Follow instructions from warehouse supervisors and team leads regarding picking priorities and daily assignments.
- Maintain an organized workflow to support timely order fulfillment.
- Communicate any missing, damaged, misplaced, or incorrectly labeled products to the appropriate supervisor.
- Inspect forklift equipment before use and report any mechanical issues, damage, or safety concerns.
- Follow all warehouse safety rules, equipment operating procedures, and company policies.
- Maintain awareness of pedestrians, other forklift operators, warehouse traffic, and surrounding equipment.
- Keep assigned work areas clean and free of unnecessary obstructions.
- Assist with inventory organization and product movement when needed.
- Meet established productivity and accuracy expectations throughout the shift.
- Work cooperatively with receiving, inventory, shipping, and other warehouse departments.
- Perform additional material-handling and warehouse duties as assigned.
## Required Experience and Qualifications
- Previous cherry picker forklift operating experience is required.
- Previous warehouse order-picking experience is required.
- Ability to operate a cherry picker safely while retrieving products from elevated storage locations.
- Experience using picking lists, order sheets, RF scanners, or warehouse inventory systems is preferred.
- Ability to read and follow written and verbal instructions.
- Strong attention to detail when identifying products and verifying orders.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Dependable attendance and punctuality.
- Willingness to work in a fast-paced distribution environment.
- Ability to follow all safety procedures and supervisor instructions.
- Current forklift certification or documented training may be required by the employer.
## Physical Requirements

## Work Environment
The position is located in a rug distribution center with warehouse storage racks, shipping areas, and inventory staging locations. Associates will operate a cherry picker forklift to retrieve rugs stored at various heights and transport products throughout designated warehouse areas.
The work environment is fast-paced and requires consistent attention to safety, order accuracy, and productivity. Employees must be comfortable working around other warehouse associates, forklifts, pallet jacks, and moving materials. Depending on the facility, the warehouse may not be climate-controlled.
## Safety Expectations
Safety is a critical part of this position. The Cherry Picker Forklift Operator must follow all company safety guidelines and equipment operating procedures at all times.
- Complete required equipment inspections before operating the forklift.
