Shift: 1st Shift 6am-2:30pm
Description: Blow Molding Machine Operator
This is the entry to mid-level role focused on the day-to-day operation and quality control of the production line.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
Machine Operation: Start, stop, and monitor blow molding machines (e.g., Extrusion Blow Molding or Injection Stretch Blow Molding) to ensure continuous, efficient production.
Quality Control: Conduct regular visual and dimensional checks on finished products (bottles, containers) using measurement tools like calipers, micrometers, and gauges to ensure they meet specifications (e.g., weight, height, wall thickness).
Trimming & Finishing: Remove excess plastic material (flash) from molded parts using knives, hand tools, or automated trimming equipment.
Material Handling: Load and prepare raw plastic materials (resins) into the machine hopper and regrind scrap or defective parts for reuse.
Troubleshooting (Minor): Identify and report basic machine or part defects (e.g., flash, short shots, holes) and make minor, authorized adjustments to machine settings (like temperature or air pressure).
Safety & Housekeeping: Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering strictly to all safety and sanitation guidelines.
Packing: Package and palletize finished, quality-checked products for shipment.
Typical Qualifications & Skills
High school diploma or GED required.
Basic mechanical aptitude and experience operating manufacturing equipment is preferred.
Ability to read and follow written work instructions, specifications, and safety protocols.
Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
