Job Position: Production

Location: OLNEY, TX 76374

Pay Rate: $14.00/hr

Shift: 1st 6am-6pm

Description: Summary
The General Laborer performs a variety of fundamental tasks to support the efficient and safe flow of production within the shop. This is an entry-level position vital to the operation, providing support to skilled tradespeople (Welders, Fabricators, Machine Operators) and ensuring the work environment remains organized, clean, and safe.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Production Support:

Material Preparation: Assist skilled workers by moving, fetching, and preparing raw materials (e.g., steel, aluminum stock) for cutting, forming, and welding processes.

Part Finishing: Perform essential tasks such as grinding, deburring, polishing, and cleaning fabricated metal parts using hand tools and power tools (e.g., angle grinders, wire brushes).

Assembly Assistance: Help assemble components, stage parts for the next production step, and assist with packaging finished goods for shipment.

Material & Equipment Handling:

Load and unload materials and supplies from trucks, manually or by assisting the Forklift Operator.

Move materials and finished products within the shop using carts, hand trucks, or other non-powered equipment.

Keep tools and equipment organized, clean, and in good working condition, reporting any maintenance issues.

Shop Maintenance & Safety:

Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area at all times by sweeping, removing scrap metal, chips, and debris.

Ensure all floors, walkways, and storage areas are free of hazards.

Adhere strictly to all company safety policies and procedures, including the mandatory use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, steel-toed boots, and hearing protection.

Inventory & Quality:

Sort and stack finished parts and scrap materials for recycling or storage.

Count parts and materials to support inventory control efforts.

Visually inspect parts for defects or damage and notify a supervisor of any issues.

Qualifications
Education/Experience:

High school diploma or GED equivalent.

Previous experience in a manufacturing, construction, or industrial environment is preferred but not required.

Skills & Abilities:

Ability to read and follow simple written and verbal instructions and safety rules.

Familiarity with basic hand tools and power tools (e.g., tape measures, grinders, clamps) is highly desirable.

Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for extended periods, walk, bend, stoop, and frequently lift and move objects up to 50 pounds (or more with assistance).

Strong commitment to safety and quality work.

Reliable attendance and a strong work ethic.

Work Environment
This position requires working primarily in a noisy, non-climate-controlled metal fabrication and manufacturing setting. The employee will be exposed to dust, metal chips, fumes, and varying temperatures.
